My final Lufthansa A340-600 flight was a very enjoyable journey from Frankfurt to Washington Dulles, with excellent service, good food, and an opportunity to revisit an aircraft I have flown fondly for many years. The business class seat was dated, but Lufthansa’s improved soft product helped make this a fitting farewell.
There was another reason to choose Lufthansa too. I wanted to try its new “Project FOX” business class service, including the revised dining concept. The flight delivered on both counts. I loved flying on the A340-600 once more, and the food and service greatly exceeded my expectations.
Lufthansa has now retired the aircraft type, with its final scheduled passenger flight arriving in Frankfurt from Washington on October 19, 2026. My own farewell took place several weeks earlier and I am very glad I made the effort.
A great solo travel tip spotted this week on Live and Let's Fly.
