An Egyptian pilot posted footage of an El Al aircraft with a soundtrack invoking “an eye for an eye” and “violence for violence” on October 7. He says it was a patriotic celebration, not a threat. But pairing those words with a civilian aircraft, especially right now, strikes me as a remarkably foolish choice and another example of a pilot arguably unfit to fly.
The footage shows an El Al aircraft at an Italian airport, identified in Italian reporting as Milan Malpensa, with an EgyptAir aircraft moving into view. Mansour paired it with a recording of former Egyptian President Anwar Sadat:
Early accounts identified Mansour as an EgyptAir pilot. But that is now in question. La Stampa reports that he described himself as a private jet captain and that an initial inquiry did not identify him among EgyptAir’s pilots…his Instagram page is full of pictures and videos of EgyptAir aircraft, but his pilots wings are clearly not from EgyptAir:
A great solo travel tip spotted this week on Live and Let's Fly.
