Delta Air Lines likes to talk about becoming a more premium airline and, as I wrote over the weekend, CEO Ed Bastian wants Delta mentioned in the same breath as Singapore Airlines and Emirates. That makes some of the carrier’s recent domestic first class meal cutbacks particularly strange.

Delta’s Meal Malaise: Premium Ambitions, But A Skimpier First Class Product

A tweet went viral over the weekend comparing a Delta domestic first class meal with a United first class meal from a flight of around the same length. The Delta meal (meatballs, which I’ve had before on Delta) looked perfectly decent on its own, but the problem was what was missing.

No side salad.

No mixed nuts before the meal.
