American Airlines wants to become “the premier global airline based in the US.” I welcome the ambition and some of the investments behind it. But after my recent flights on American, I would be happy to start with a seat and power outlet that work and flights that depart on-time.
As One Mile At A Time discusses, that is quite an ambition for an airline still trying to catch up with Delta and United. But this is not simply a new talking point from Pieper. American’s leadership used similar language during its second-quarter earnings call, describing its investments as supporting that broader strategy.
I do not object to the goal…who would and what would we prefer management say? That American hopes to remain a perfectly adequate but mediocre choice?
A great solo travel tip spotted this week on Live and Let's Fly.
