United Airlines and Delta Air Lines are bringing basic economy-style restrictions into first class, giving American Airlines an opportunity to distinguish itself by keeping ordinary benefits included. I strongly agree with Gary Leff on this, but American will not only have to resist the temptation to follow its competitors, but actually deliver the premium experience it promises.
I strongly concur.
American does not need to invent a revolutionary product here. It could simply continue including seat selection, a reasonable baggage allowance and the ability to change your plans without a change fee when you buy first class.
A great solo travel tip spotted this week on Live and Let's Fly.
