Houston just leapfrogged every other city in the Western Hemisphere on the airport lounge front.
United Airlines’ new Terminal B North concourse at George Bush Intercontinental Airport opened last week with a 54,000-square-foot United Club that seats 800 travelers, which the airline bills as the biggest club of any carrier across North and South America.
The club sits on the mezzanine with floor-to-ceiling views of the airfield and a 1,350-square-foot outdoor terrace, a rarity at U.S. airports. Inside, there are two full-service bars, two buffet stations, 11 private phone rooms, and power at nearly every seat. The design nods to Houston’s bayous, skyline, and NASA pedigree, with a collection of mostly Texas-made artwork that includes photography by one of United’s own employees in San Antonio. Access runs through United Club memberships, qualifying United credit cards, and select premium-cabin fares.
A great solo travel tip spotted this week on Luxury Travel Advisor.
