United Airlines is warning flight attendants that deliberately using rolling delays to pick up trips they know they will probably be unable to work is not clever scheduling, but potentially fraud that can get them fired. I can understand United’s position, though after looking at the contract itself, I also think the issue is a little less black-and-white than the memo suggests.
United reportedly told flight attendants:
“You must have the intent and ability to operate the trip being picked up or traded into. This principle has been affirmed in multiple arbitration cases. Violating it can result in discipline or termination.”
A great solo travel tip spotted this week on Live and Let's Fly.
