I’m finally on my way to Greenland on United Airlines and it’s an energetic flight…with a ton of United non-revs taking advantage of one of the carrier’s most unusual routes. We should call this service to Nuuk the “employee express” route.

And who can blame them? If I worked for United, I would certainly take advantage of this very unique route. While I initially had an Economy Plus row to myself, I was joined by two jovial United employees making the journey to Nuuk…for one night.

Apparently, many employees fly to Nuuk on the daytime service, arriving in the late afternoon. They walk around town, take a twilight boat trip to see glaciers and whales, and then visit a bar that stays open until 4:00 a before returning to the airport for the 9:00 am flight back to Newark.

A great solo travel tip spotted this week on Live and Let's Fly.
