The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has decided that officers checking boarding passes and identification at airport security checkpoints should no longer be allowed to sit down. The agency says removing their chairs will improve security and hospitality…
The American Federation of Government Employees TSA Council 100, which represents TSA officers, says the chairs serve as “basic ergonomic and safety support” for employees who stand and walk on hard floors all day.
TSA sees it very differently. In a statement, the agency called the change “welcome” and said it reinforces both its security posture and its “commitment to hospitality” by keeping officers on their feet and alert.
