Southwest Airlines has revealed the name of its upcoming network of airport lounges, along with a first look inside. Called Southwest Icon Lounges, the new spaces represent another departure from the airline many of us grew up flying, though the carrier hopes to cash in as consumer sentiment drifts toward premium.

Southwest Airlines Reveals Icon Lounge Name And First Nashville Rendering

Southwest’s first airport lounges now have a name: Southwest Icon Lounge.

The airline announced its lounge plans in September, so the network itself is not new. This week brings the branding and a first rendering of its planned Nashville location, offering a better sense of what Southwest and partner Chase are creating.

The rendering shows a sweeping bar, warm wood tones, upholstered seating, and an appearance more reminiscent of an upscale hotel (or Chase Sapphire Lounge) than anything ever associated with Southwest (no Gary, no “quickie” booking machines in this lounge…though I believe those were actually called “Quicket” machines).

A great solo travel tip spotted this week on Live and Let's Fly.
