I flew out of the new terminal at Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR), an airport that has been part of my life since my very first flight in 1987. I loved the old terminal, but affection for its familiar shortcomings did not mean it could last forever. Here is a look inside its replacement, which opened on October 13, 2026.
Burbank is only about 15 minutes from my home. That convenience, along with the old terminal’s simplicity, made it an airport I have always appreciated, as ugly and threadbare as it was. For me, the test of its replacement is whether it makes the experience more comfortable while preserving what made Burbank so useful in the first place.
