A new report has raised questions about leadership, decision-making, and internal personnel practices at the Department of Homeland Security under Secretary Kristi Noem and her senior adviser Corey Lewandowski, but what really caught my attention was a crazy incident that required firing a pilot over a blanket.
According to individuals familiar with the matter, the sequence of events began after Noem and her team were forced to switch aircraft due to a maintenance issue on her Boeing 737-8 Max. Her favorite blanket she had been using was not transferred to the replacement aircraft. That omission reportedly prompted Lewandowski, a close adviser to and rumored lover of Noem, even though both are married, to angrily dismiss the Coast Guard pilot assigned to the flight.
