As we previously mentioned, starting November 1, 2026, Japan will introduce a new Tax-Free Shopping process for international travelers that will unfortunately see an end to instant in-store processing.
All purchases from November 1st and beyond will need to be processed at the airport, as is already common procedure in almost all other countries, and I’m sure it’ll result in chaotic scenes.
