Combining two of Amboise’s historic properties – the celebrated Le Choiseul and Le Manoir des Minimes – into a single estate on the banks of the Loire River beneath the Royal Château of Amboise, the project marks one of the most significant hospitality openings for the region in recent years.
Following the success of Relais de Chambord, the project has been led by entrepreneur and philanthropist Frédéric Jousset through Artnova, an impact investment fund dedicated to preserving and enhancing cultural heritage. The architecture, landscape, historical memory, and cultural identity of the estate have guided every stage of the restoration and development of this new Loire Valley destination.
Set within the historic heart of Amboise, just moments from Clos Lucé – the final home of Leonardo da Vinci – Relais d’Amboise occupies one of the region’s most culturally significant settings with deep ties to the history of the French Renaissance. The estate spans multiple historic residences along Quai Charles Guinot, combining former noble residences, dramatic troglodyte caves carved into the limestone cliffs, restored gardens, terraces and riverside viewpoints.
A great solo travel tip spotted this week on Hotel Designs.
