Ponant Explorations on April 29, 2026 unveiled the initial release of its 2028 voyages in alliance with Smithsonian Journeys, now open for sale. This first selection is led by an all-new solar eclipse journey through Australia’s remote Kimberley region, alongside a curated mix of returning favorites across the Caribbean, Atlantic, Indian Ocean and Antarctica.
Combining Ponant Explorations’ seafaring expertise with Smithsonian’s legacy as the world’s largest museum, education, and research complex, these voyages are designed to bring each destination to life through expert insight and deeper discovery—with additional departures to be revealed in the months ahead.
“At Ponant Explorations, we believe that travel, when approached with curiosity and care, has the power to transform both the traveler and the world,” said Samuel Chamberlain, CEO of the Americas, Ponant Explorations Group. “Our alliance with Smithsonian Journeys brings together leading voices in their fields to illuminate the beauty and importance of the places we visit. From witnessing a total solar eclipse over the Kimberley coast to seeing gray whales in Baja or giant tortoises in Seychelles, our 2028 voyages are guided by a shared conviction that knowledge deepens wonder, and wonder inspires change.”
