The EU’s Entry/Exit System launched in late last year and was supposed to be fully implemented and in use to screen all non-nationals entering and exiting the Schengen Zone from April 10, 2026 (read more here).

There has been anecdotal evidence from multiple airports within the Schengen zone that the EES is not exactly working as intended, while being years late, resulting in hours-long lines to enter and exit the bloc.
