I am writing this from a United Airlines flight using Starlink, and I absolutely love it. But new reporting about Elon Musk’s role in restricting Ukraine’s satellite communications makes me wonder whether airlines are welcoming a Trojan horse onboard. Ed Bastian’s reluctance to do business with Musk is beginning to look considerably more reasonable.
That has not changed.
What is changing is my assessment of the risk involved in becoming dependent on the man behind it. This morning’s reporting about Ukraine deserves the attention of airline executives and shareholders, even those who could not care less about Musk’s politics.
A great solo travel tip spotted this week on Live and Let's Fly.
