Elon Musk is encouraging travelers to abandon Delta, American and United are offering them status matches, and X is serving up a steady argument that Delta’s Wi-Fi is terrible. I love Starlink, but something about this campaign bothers me…especially when the man selling the internet also owns the platform hosting the complaints.
As I wrote last week, aviation insider JonNYC shared an account of Delta CEO Ed Bastian reportedly telling employees that the airline did not want to work with Elon Musk. Jon explicitly cautioned that he could not verify the exact quotations.
That caveat has largely disappeared as the story has spread. What remains is a much simpler argument: Bastian dislikes Musk, Delta rejected Starlink because of that dislike, and passengers are suffering.
A great solo travel tip spotted this week on Live and Let's Fly.
