Delta is also transitioning aircraft to a newer Viasat satellite service, which it says should increase bandwidth and ease slowdowns reported earlier this year. The carrier expects that change to be complete on North and South American flights by Thanksgiving. It is also finishing Wi-Fi installations on regional jets and Boeing 717s, while saying more than 1,300 aircraft already have complimentary service.
Delta’s service strategy faces competition from carriers adopting Starlink. United said 43% of its jets had the system installed, while Alaska was about 40% complete; Southwest has said it expects to finish its fleet first. Delta, meanwhile, signed with Amazon for a future system intended to offer a similar browsing experience, but installations are not expected to begin until 2028.
A great solo travel tip spotted this week on InsideFlyer.
