Delta Air Lines will launch nonstop service between Atlanta and Riyadh on October 23, 2026, marking its first direct service to Saudi Arabia and the first nonstop flight between the United States and Riyadh operated by a U.S. airline. The route is ambitious and strategically interesting, though I do wonder how Delta will fill up planes, even with its partnership with Riyadh Air (and Saudia). This week, Delta has discounted the price of tickets when using SkyMiles.
Saudi Arabia has poured enormous resources into tourism, aviation, entertainment, sports, and infrastructure, and Riyadh is increasingly positioning itself as a global business center. Delta clearly sees an opportunity to connect that growth with the largest airline hub in the world.
Passengers will also have access to Delta Studio entertainment, free Delta Sync Wi-Fi for SkyMiles members (where available), and halal meal options. Delta has not framed Riyadh solely as a local destination. Atlanta provides connectivity from cities across the United States, while Riyadh offers access to Saudi Arabia’s business, government, tourism, and cultural sectors…the Delta press release heavily emphasizes tourism opportunities in the Kingdom.
