Personal cards opened at any bank count, including charge cards, hybrid cards and store credit cards; accounts on which an applicant became an authorized user also qualify. Select small-business cards from Discover, TD Bank and Capital One are included, with the Venture X Business and Spark Cash Plus specifically named. In general, an account must appear on a credit report to count, rather than show only as an inquiry.

Mortgages, student loans and auto loans do not add to the total, and a denied application does not increase it. Closing an eligible card does not erase its opening from the 24-month calculation. Chase has not publicly explained the policy, and enforcement is not consistent in every case; an applicant over the limit may still be added to a card as an authorized user.
