Boeing 737 MAX 10 Finally Wins FAA Approval, Clearing The Way For A Different First Class Experience

The Boeing 737 MAX 10 has finally received FAA certification, clearing a major hurdle for an aircraft that will become a familiar sight at U.S. airports. For passengers, the interesting part is what airlines plan to put inside it: more first class seats and, in Alaska’s case, lie-flat beds on a portion of its fleet.

After years of delays, this is an important milestone for Boeing and the airlines that have built fleet plans around an aircraft they could not yet receive. But don’t expect to see them in the air just yet.

That makes it the highest-capacity but shortest-range MAX variant. It is designed to carry more people efficiently on routes where airlines do not need the additional range of a smaller version. Boeing says it has orders for 1,555 MAX 10s from more than 30 customers. That is a substantial backlog, and explains why this approval matters well beyond one airline or one country.

A great solo travel tip spotted this week on Live and Let's Fly.
