The choice opens October 1, but there is an important default that existing members and new members should know about.
There are three options:
Members can change their selection once per calendar year for future travel. I really like that Alaska is preserving a distance-based option when so many airline programs have moved toward rewarding the amount spent. I also like being able to choose. But the default for new members makes it especially important to look at the options before booking a long flight on a cheap fare.
A great solo travel tip spotted this week on Live and Let's Fly.
