Alaska Airlines is finally putting lie-flat seats on some of its domestic flights. At least 25 Boeing 737 MAX 10 aircraft will feature a new premium cabin with lie-flat seating, giving the carrier a very different product to sell on select transcontinental routes beginning in 2028.

For those of us who have spent six hours crossing the country in Alaska’s current first class seat, this is welcome news. Alaska offers a pleasant onboard experience, but there is only so much a meal and good service can do when a competitor offers a bed.

The Aurora Suites will have direct aisle access, a 19-inch 4K screen, Bluetooth connectivity, wireless and USB-C charging, and AC power. Alaska specifically mentions privacy doors for the suites on its 787s, but does not say the MAX 10 suites will have doors.
