Alaska Airlines is adding nonstop flights from Anchorage to Tokyo Narita on a Boeing 737 MAX 8. More than eight hours on a domestically configured 737 may not sound particularly appealing, but for Alaskans who would otherwise have to backtrack through Seattle, this will be a very welcome addition and marks the coolest new route add (at least so far) of 2027.
The route will operate daily during the summer:
The last summer departure from Anchorage is September 7, with the final return from Tokyo on September 8. Alaska says service will resume three times weekly in January 2028.
A great solo travel tip spotted this week on Live and Let's Fly.
