Air Tahiti’s new all-business class ATR 72-600 will spend its working life making short flights between tropical islands. But first, it has to get there…and that involves an eight-flight journey from France through Egypt, Oman, India, Southeast Asia, Australia, and Fiji.
While its 26-seat business class cabin is attracting attention, I find the journey to its new home at least as interesting. Getting a regional turboprop from a factory in France to Tahiti is rather different from delivering a longhaul jet.
Air Tahiti’s published route calls for eight flights, linking nine airports over approximately six days. The journey is still underway (the aircraft is currently in Oman), so that remains the planned itinerary rather than a record of eight completed flights.
A great solo travel tip spotted this week on Live and Let's Fly.
