Air India and Air India Express lost about $2.3 billion last fiscal year as revenue fell, and Tata’s fix is the man who rebuilt Ethiopian Airlines.

The mainline Air India lost about $1.62 billion on roughly $5.42 billion of revenue, and Air India Express lost about $712 million on $2 billion. Seven of the 16 unlisted Tata Sons subsidiaries lost money, with combined losses of roughly $3.35 billion against $1.85 billion the year before, and Air India accounted for the bulk of it. The airline Tata (a juggernaut Indian conglomerate) bought as a flagship is now the heaviest weight in the group.
There’s also a service issue. The airline operates a full service airline but some quality concerns hamper sales efforts as well.
A great solo travel tip spotted this week on Live and Let's Fly.
