Marriott Bonvoy launched Suite Night Upgrades after it acquired Starwood (yes – officially it was a merger), as it didn’t have anything similar under Marriott Rewards.
Marriott renamed Suite Night Upgrades to Nightly Upgrade Awards in 2024 because many of the upgrade room types were no longer suites but rooms with non-parking-lot views and higher floors.
