Virgin Atlantic Flying Club has an ongoing status match offer, and I’d like to cover the details in this post. In particular, there’s a special limited time status match offer for those with British Airways Club status, which is even more lucrative than usual.
This status match offer is valid for those who have status with one of the following 10 programs (at this link you can see a chart with how status maps over):
- Air Canada Aeroplan
- Air India Flying Returns
- American AAdvantage
- British Airways Club
- Cathay Pacific Marco Polo Club
- Emirates Skywards
- Iberia Club
- Lufthansa Miles & More
- South African Airways Voyager
- United MileagePlus
In addition to the standard status match offer, there’s a special deal for British Airways Club members, but only for a limited time. This is even open to British Airways Club members who have matched in the past.
Note that you can only take advantage of a Virgin Atlantic Flying Club status match once, with the exception of the brief elevated offer for British Airways Club. Matched status is also valid for 12 months.
The terms do technically state that “this offer is not available to Members who also hold any level of membership with a SkyTeam partner airline.” Everyone can make of that what they’d like, because I can’t imagine there’s any enforcement mechanism there.
Is a Virgin Atlantic Flying Club status match worth it?
For context, Virgin Atlantic’s status requirements are ordinarily as follows:
