United Airlines is adding another genuinely useful feature to its mobile app, allowing disrupted passengers to keep their confirmed itinerary while simultaneously standing by for up to three earlier flights. Better yet, United will monitor those flights automatically and text you if a seat opens up.
If you are rebooked onto a later flight after a disruption, you can now add yourself to the standby list for up to three earlier United flights to the same destination while keeping your existing confirmed reservation.
Then United does the monitoring for you.
A great solo travel tip spotted this week on Live and Let's Fly.
