Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport (RUH) has been attacked again, this time with a far higher death toll and damage to the passenger terminal complex. Flights have been diverted and operations suspended, another grim reminder that this conflict is putting civilian aviation directly in harm’s way.

The attack occurred without an advance alert from Saudi Arabia’s threat warning system. Authorities suspended airport operations and diverted incoming flights. AP reports, citing a regional official, that a missile struck the complex housing Terminals 3 and 4 (an area I’ve stood myself at on point). Saudi authorities say a U.S. citizen was among those killed.

This follows the earlier attack that destroyed a parked Saudia A320 and killed three people, including an airline captain.
