There have been repeated reports this year about Chinese tourists being arrested in Japan after using fake Taiwanese driver’s licenses in order to rent cars during their visit to the country.
Tourists usually have to first have their licenses translated into Japanese through a service provided by the Japanese Automobile Federation, and apparently, many Chinese obtained a fake Taiwanese license for this purpose.
Driving in Japan for foreigners is a little tricky because of the quirky rules and requirements of the car rental agencies in order to rent you a car in the first place.
A great solo travel tip spotted this week on LoyaltyLobby.
