Getting from Australia to Japan on a business-class award (without paying crazy ANA or JAL fees) is a real challenge, since capacity is limited.
I had some luck and found availability on Fiji Airways from Sydney to Tokyo (NRT), and later on a Qantas non-stop day flight, but I ended up canceling it (read more here).
