Alaska Air Group’s premium overhaul goes well beyond adding beds to transcontinental flights. Alaska’s 787s and Hawaiian’s A330s are getting new suites, while major lounges will open in Seattle, Honolulu, and San Diego.
We have already looked at Alaska’s plans for lie-flat seats on select 737 MAX 10 aircraft and the new Premium Reserve cabin. The rest of their announcement deserves attention too, particularly if you fly Alaska internationally from Seattle or Hawaiian from Honolulu.
Hawaiian is taking a broader approach to its 24 Airbus A330s, with new interiors throughout the aircraft beginning in 2028. Each will have 22 Leihōkū Suites with direct aisle access and privacy doors, plus updated entertainment, charging, bedding, and dining. Hawaiian says premium seats will account for about 40% of the A330 cabin, up from 30%.
