An Alaska Airlines passenger says she was instructed to turn her Pee-wee Herman T-shirt inside out after a flight attendant complained about its “I Don’t Need The Police. I Don’t Need You” slogan. The words may sound provocative in isolation, but they are actually a famous line from Pee-wee’s Big Adventure.
The shirt featured Pee-wee Herman alongside the words:
But it was not a political slogan created for the shirt. It was a quotation from the 1985 film Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, delivered by Pee-wee during an exaggerated outburst after Dottie offers to help him find his stolen bicycle.
