Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is going upmarket in a hurry.
The company, better known for its economy and midscale heft, announced this week a partnership with HotelREZ Hotels & Resorts that will fold more than 40 luxury hotels from the Elegant Hotels of the World collection into its Registry Collection Hotels brand by early 2027, with more to follow depending on brand fit and owner buy-in.
The move follows Wyndham’s 2024 alliance with Sam Nazarian on Project HQ Hotels & Residences, a lifestyle brand that also flies under the Registry Collection flag. Taken together, the two deals mark a deliberate climb up the chain scale for a company whose portfolio still skews heavily toward Days Inn and Super 8. Registry Collection currently counts just over 30 hotels in nine countries, including the Bristol Panama, Balfour Miami Beach, and Hodges Bay Resort & Spa in Antigua, which already carries HQ branding. The Elegant additions will more than double that footprint.
A great solo travel tip spotted this week on Luxury Travel Advisor.
