Emirates named Denver as a candidate for its next US route. Without a small widebody to test the market, every new city is an all-in bet, and Denver is high stakes.

Emirates Denver service has been rumored for a while. Former DEN CEO, Phil Washington, said in spring 2025 that the airport’s next new route would “likely be Dubai with Emirates,” while Emirates said it had no official plans. Emirates and United have been codeshare partners since 2023, a tie-up Live And Let’s Fly detailed when the partnership was first announced.
The ideal test would be a 787-8 if it had the legs, a smaller airplane at the right size to prove the market and to link Denver to Dubai without staking a big fleet commitment on it. But Emirates has no 787s flying (it may never operate the type depending on the order book swaps I mentioned before), and the reality is that with a 20% reserve range variance, the altitude, an especially in the summer, it can’t make the trip even if they had it.
A great solo travel tip spotted this week on Live and Let's Fly.
