After visiting the Greenland National Museum and Archives, I walked across Nuuk to a very different but complementary institution: the Nuuk Art Museum.
The museum grew from the private collection of businessman Svend Junge and his wife, Helene Junge Pedersen, who donated it to the people of Nuuk. The museum was established in 2005 and formally inaugurated on Greenland’s National Day in 2007.
Its permanent collection includes paintings, watercolors, drawings, prints, photographs, and sculptures made from materials such as soapstone, bone, ivory, and wood.
