Inside A Greenland Grocery Store With High Prices…And Cameras Everywhere?

A visit to a grocery store in Nuuk offered a revealing look at the cost and complications of everyday life in Greenland, along with a surprising number of security cameras.

The store I visited in Nuuk was not a big grocery store, but more like a neighborhood bodega (the larger stores close earlier). Prices were predictably high. Although Greenland produces some fish, seafood, and meat locally, most packaged foods, household goods, and fresh produce must be transported from abroad, primarily by sea and sometimes by air.

What surprised me more than the prices was the sheer number of security cameras….there was like 10 of them in the liquor section (unfortunately, I did not take a picture…).

A great solo travel tip spotted this week on Live and Let's Fly.
