25 Years After 9/11, One United Flight 93 Passenger’s Story Has Become Personal

25 years after September 11, 2001, I find myself thinking less about what was done to America that morning and more about what ordinary people chose to do when confronted with it.

I watched the attacks unfold on television during the school day, moving from classroom to classroom as the scale of what had happened became clearer. Like so many Americans, I saw the second aircraft strike the South Tower, watched both towers collapse, and struggled to comprehend that thousands of people had gone to work that morning and would never return home.

At 15, I understood September 11 largely as an attack on my country. I felt anger, sadness, fear, and a surge of patriotism. The world suddenly seemed much less safe, but the moral lines appeared unusually clear.

A great solo travel tip spotted this week on Live and Let's Fly.
