With the summer winding down, I’m heading back to Germany to pick up the kids, but I’m taking a rather scenic routing via Greenland, finally checking off a bucket list destination.
When SAS cut service to Greenland after the fuel prices spiked after the Iran conflict began, I was fuming: I had planned out a trip to Greenland this summer with the family that suddenly went up in smoke. But with the kids’ time in Germany winding down, I looked into first class on British Airways (never opened using miles from Los Angeles) and so ultimately decided to fly to Nuuk, Greenland (GOH) on United.
United began this seasonal service last summer and it has continued this year. While United also plans to bring it back next summer, I didn’t want to take a chance (especially after SAS promised the same thing then canceled service), so I booked a one-way ticket from Southern California to Nuuk.
A great solo travel tip spotted this week on Live and Let's Fly.
