Airline Lawsuit Forces Aviation Herald Founder To Sell His Home After He Refuses To Remove Accurate Reporting

I have been following the remarkable legal ordeal of Simon Hradecky, founder and editor of The Aviation Herald, for several days. It is a sobering story about aviation reporting, defamation law, and the very real financial risks that independent publishers take when we put our names behind what we write.

It is not flashy and built around outrage (I love the old-school format). It methodically documents incidents and accidents, often with technical detail and updates as better information becomes available. At last count, The Aviation Herald contained more than 32,000 reports covering incidents stretching back decades.

I have relied upon Simon’s work countless times over the years and regard him as a very credible voice in aviation safety reporting. Now he says a lawsuit filed by Slovakian charter and ACMI carrier Go2Sky cost him so much that he had to sell the apartment he had lived in for 41 years and move into his office.

A great solo travel tip spotted this week on Live and Let's Fly.
