Kymaia – between the sound of waves and the fragrance of the Oaxacan jungle

In a design where sustainability becomes the link that unites the authentic with the extraordinary, Kymaia reveals itself as an oasis where luxury and nature intertwine in a delicate balance. Its name, feminine in origin and derived from Sanskrit, means ‘miracle’ or ‘wonder,’ perfectly reflecting the essence of this retreat.

Kymaia’s concept enhances the natural setting. The hotel has 22 suites, carefully distributed to blend in with the topography of the place. In the highest areas of the complex are the four Ocean Front Suites, with panoramic views of the ocean and a private pool that invites relaxation. The other rooms are grouped in structures inspired by pre-Hispanic pyramids. On the ground floor, the nine Senior Suites, surrounded by gardens that merge with the horizon, have partial views of the sea and a pool; on the upper floor, the nine Junior Suites offer views of the ocean and are equipped with hot tubs for a maximum relaxation experience.

The architectural design, by the renowned Mexican studio Productora, is inspired on traditional building techniques, incorporating materials such as stucco, clay and local wood that evoke the warmth of the Oaxacan culture. This choice is not only due to aesthetic criteria, but also to a deep commitment to sustainability and respect for the environment. Sand tones and wood finishes achieve a delicate balance between rustic and sophisticated, creating an atmosphere that is both elegant and welcoming.

A great solo travel tip spotted this week on Hotel Designs.
