Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport Shuts Down For July 4th Flyovers And Fireworks

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport will effectively shut down for much of July 4th as Washington, DC celebrates America’s 250th birthday, a rare and rather dramatic reminder that DCA may be the most convenient airport in America until the federal government decides it needs the airspace.

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport will suspend flight operations for portions of July 3rd and July 4th as Washington, DC hosts major America 250 celebrations, including military flyovers, aerial demonstrations, and fireworks around the National Mall.

According to airport officials, no flights will operate at DCA for several hours on July 3rd due to rehearsals, and flight operations will stop after noon on July 4th, with normal operations not expected to resume until July 5th.

A great solo travel tip spotted this week on Live and Let's Fly.
