For the first year ever, I earned top-tier elite status with not one, but two airlines — American Airlines and United Airlines — thanks to a status match. I have flown with American for years. You could say I was born to be an AA loyalist, since many of my family members worked for the airline after their previous employer, TWA, was acquired by American.
